DIY - Decorating Children's Rooms Part One

We're redecorating at my daughter's house.  The upstairs is getting new carpet so we decided to switch the kids' bedrooms.  Adrianna will move into Anthony's room and Anthony into Adrianna's. That will give Anthony more privacy and put Adrianna close to my room.  We're calling it a girl's suite.  I haven't done any real decorating since moving in 3 years ago so I am in my element!  However, this is no small undertaking since Anthony has a train that goes around the top of his walls that has to be moved.

Here are some pictures of the kids' rooms before we started.

Adrianna's Room Before:

Adrianna is getting a new bed.  We found her a beautiful off white full size iron bed on Craigslist and her furniture will be getting a face lift.
Anthony's Room Before:
Anthony used to LOVE Thomas the Train.  I painted the mural on his walls 6 years ago.  Now at age 11, he's outgrown Thomas.  See the trains that run around the top of the walls.  My son-in-law built that.  I'm not sure yet if he's putting that in Anthony's new room but I do know it is coming down!  This room will be painted pink and become a princess room!

Day One:
We organized; we cleaned out; we threw out!  Boy, the kid's have a lot of stuff!
Adrianna's room will now become Anthony's room.  We decided to keep the green so all we needed to do was touch up the lower walls.  Everyone helped with that.  The blue and clouds have to go though.
Day Two:
We painted the furniture.  Here is the before...

I painted on one coat of primer and one coat of off white satin paint (Ralph Lauren Stucco White Paint; actually left over from my faux finishing days.).  I have ordered knobs and pulls so you have to wait to see the finished product!

In the bedroom the trim and doors have been painted white and the upper walls and ceiling have been primed.

That's it for our first two days.  Stay tuned for more updates!

Until next time,
