Our Big Kitchen Reveal

We're finished!!!  I thought it was time to show you our finished kitchen.  We just love it!

Do you remember what it looked like before - right out of the 90s?

Here is the plan in case you forgot...

As you can see, we stuck to our plan fairly well.  One change included the color of the granite.  We choose black pearl from Premier Surfaces where we were able to pick out our actual slab.

The bar stools were a steal from Ballard Designs Outlet.

The white subway tile from Floor and Décor was a real bargain at .21 tile and we used delorean gray grout from The Home Depot.

What do you think of our chalkboard wall?  I have to give all the credit for that to my son-in-law Alex.  I designed it but he executed it.  Unfortunately I don't have the patience it takes and I can tell you it takes some patience!  The grid lines were purchased for just $10 from Leen the Graphics Queen and worth every penny.

Finding a good chalk pen proved a challenge until I found this one from Bistro at Amazon.

Here are some before and after pictures for you to enjoy...

One thing we didn't plan on was how much darker the kitchen would be with the black granite and the black chalkboard wall.  Instead of undercabinet lighting we decided to go with recessed lighting with LED dimmable lights from The Home Depot.
Start to finish took less than 4 weeks and we couldn't be happier.  Our kitchen reno project has led to many other projects in the house which I will be sharing with you over the coming weeks.  We now have a first floor that is ready for 2015!

Decorating with Clocks & DIY Clocks

I love clocks!  Not only are clocks functional (of course, they tell you what time it is) but also decorative.  Mostly decorative.  Consider how many devices you currently own that tell you the time - computers, cell phones, ranges, microwave, etc.  So why not use clocks as a decorative item.  Consider the following...

Clocks come in all types of different materials such as wood, metal, plastic, and acrylic.

Clocks represent your personality like this oversized clock...

Or this 34" large wall clock...

Or these modern yet rustic style pallet clocks...

For the Kitchen...

For music lovers...remember vinyl records?

Like quirky?

Clocks for the table or the nightstand...

And for the kids...

You can even make your own.  Check out these great clock ideas and tutorials...

So no matter what your personality and what your style, there is a clock out there for you.  I hope you enjoyed these clocks and found some inspiration.  I know I did.  I may even try my hand at making one myself.

My French Inspired Work Space

What does your work space look like?  Just because you work at home doesn't mean that your work space shouldn't be beautiful!  Beautiful and functional, that is.  Today I am going to share with you my French inspired work space and some of the projects that went into making it all mine.  All furniture is from my favorite store - Ballard Designs.

Here I have everything I need to get the job done!

Here's my memo board - where I keep everything off my desk!  For a tutorial on how to make this board, check out How to Make a Memo Board.

I made my dress form, too.  For a tutorial on how to decoupage a dress form, check out my tutorial How to Decoupage.

And finally my artwork.  This was one of my favorite projects.  For a tutorial on how to create this mixed media piece check out DIY Project - Mixed Media Art Project.

Organization  is very important, especially in a small space.  To keep all my paper organized, I purchased this magazine/file rack by IKEA.  I turned a nightstand into a printer stand!

So make your office space a place you will enjoy working.  I did!  I hope you enjoyed seeing a bit of my world.

Until next time...
